Fresh from his ‘dance rocks’ compilation Eddy Temple Morris has formed one side of ‘loser’ along with Tom Bellamy. They’ve been drafted in to remix two tracks from two very well respected bands in their own fields. I have to admit straight away that the rage against the machine remixes don’t appeal to me at all. They are still too close to heavy metal and I find it hard to say anything positive about that style of music so I won’t... It’s fucking shit!

The Gossip remix on the other hand is absolute quality. It’s really well done and a brilliant follow-up to their last hit ‘standing in the way of control. The track features Beth Ditto’s trademark roar, urging ‘one two three listen to me, three for got some trouble in store’ over a tune filled with influences from both rock and breaks. But whereas the former strayed far too close to the more frightening aspects of the genre, this manages to make a great fusion and create a really good crossover record. Tore through the speakers and went right off when I dropped it at Chibuku, which is as good as a recommendation as it gets.
