Hardfloor
Screwdriva / Murano [Kill Brique]

Best known for their acid house/techno/trance material in the early/mid 90s, Hardfloor are back to ride the resurgence in popularity of this sound. ‘Screwdriva’ starts off deep and progressively builds throughout, the interweaving 303 lines sounding not dissimilar to their 1992 opus ‘Acperience’.

B-side ‘Murano’ is the heavier of the cuts, the acid lines and snares punishing the eardrums right from the beginning, and a breakdown long enough to test the most loyal floors, but this really is a peak-time beast worth tracking down (apparently there are only 50 copies going).

Hardfloor were accused of cookie-cutter production with their slew of remixes in the wake of ‘Acperience’, and it sounds like, even a decade later, they have failed to find any new ideas. Nevertheless, their mixes of ‘Yeke Yeke’, ‘Blue Monday’ and ‘Circus Bells’ sounded great no matter what anyone said, and so do these tracks.
